Strapped for cash during the make-or-break early days of On-U Sound, Adrian made a number of albums-for-hire for the Cherry Red label. Many of the acts on On-U featured the same core group of players assembled in slightly different formations and group names such as Missing Brazilians, New Age Steppers and Playgroup. Voice Of Authority only made one album - Very Big In America Right Now. Dubbed as the first in a series of ‘Science Fiction Dancehall Classics’ but actually the last record On-U released in collaboration with Cherry Red. The album itself is an instrumental blur of TV samples, tape loops, distortion and electronic experimentation, but this exclusive version discovered buried deep in the On-U vaults features a vocal by roots legend Ashanti Roy. As part of the harmony trio The Congos he recorded the masterpiece Heart Of The Congos album with Lee Perry at Black Ark, and went on to a prolific career, including several contributions to the Singers & Players records on On-U Sound. The Congos continue to tour and record, and in recent years have continued to push the boundaries of dub with their Icon Give Thank set produced with experimental Los Angeles-based musicians Sun Araw and M. Geddes Gengras.
