about

Singers & Players was an early attempt by Adrian to bring a loose collective of musicians, DJs, engineers and vocalists together, and was the blueprint for similar later groups on the label. Their debut album was licensed to Ed Bahlman’s cult imprint 99 Records, and despite decidedly reggae-centric leanings, somehow also fit in perfectly with the likes of ESG, Liquid Liquid and Bush Tetras. Nowhere was this more evident than on “Reaching The Bad Man” where an epic bass-heavy groove is spun out for maximum dancefloor impact, over which glides On-U mainstay Bim Sherman with a masterclass in dub toasting. A track equally at home being spun at a New York City art/punk loft party or booming out of a Kingston sound system.

He's gone onto work with everyone from Lee Perry to Blur. ... more
