Italian band Rinf started their activities in 1980 as part of the DIY home recording cassette scene**, evolving over time into more of a rockist affair taking, inspiration from metal, funk and blues. In spring 1986, their label Industrie Discografiche Lacerba invited Adrian Sherwood to produce some of their songs. Adrian came to Florence the following summer and together they recorded four tracks, finished off at Southern Studios due to the local recording facility lacking the essential AMS machine! The general atmosphere and energy across both sessions was so good that a long-standing friendship ensued between Adrian and the Italians. As a consequence, Rinf’s label were gifted by an exclusive release of a Dub Syndicate 12” EP, “Night Train”. Rinf are still operating and a new album was released in late 2013. After a hiatus of 25 years, Industrie Discografiche Lacerba is now working on releasing lost gems from their archives, some examples of which can be seen in the great snapshots they kindly let us use for the artwork of this compilation.
